Late 1950s Contributed by Robert G Auscherman
I was at Bentwaters and Woodbridge, 1955-1958 a/1C 1264th. AACS Squadron. Control Tower Operator - Now: 3659 E. Carmel Drive Carmel, Indiana 46033 317-846-4820
I have photos of both the old and newer Control Tower at Bentwaters. We were moved to Woodbridge when they tore down the old Control Tower at Bentwaters and then moved back when it was finished. Some of the pictures I have seen on your wonderful site concerning the tower are great, but lack complete information that I might be able to give.

The original Bentwaters Control Tower before they rebuilt it.
This picture, with it's signs stating 80 AMSL and the FIGHTER BOMBER WING, will resolve a lot of discussion and maybe promote more! Linn Barringer

We had a mascot dog in our AACS squadron named "Brutus" that rode the buses to the Control Tower and GCA unit on his own. He also rode the buses back to the chow halls when it was time to eat. Everyone knew him.

I wonder what the
UFO-sceptics make of this? Smoke without fire?
It is a picture
of the console in the Bentwaters control tower.

A tasty reminder of Christmas past...
