Disturbed by the United States boming of Iraq in December 1998, the author decided to examine his thoughts about the country of his birth.  After two years of casual writing he felt he had a better understanding of his country.

His book gave him an understanding of the terrorist attack of 11 September and of the reactions to it.  The attack answered some of the questions he still had open in his mind.

Big Ben Tours logoJoe shares with us an intimate story of his life from early childhood and youth in America, with the emphasis always on those events which affected his thoughts about the USA. His high-school course in American History gave him pride in his country. First doubts came with the atomic bomb dropped on Hiroshima.

These doubts strengthened with a new version of American History gained during 35 yearsliving in England, working with the US military as a teacher and tour operator - Big Ben Tours (logo, left)
