This man was seen hanging around a sign in Sept-Oct 1959...

.. and in April 2000 he was back doing something similar! The location of this sign is shown on the annotated map (right) which explains the somewhat odd location of the 81st CSG, although the word 'combat' was not used as part of the unit designation such as the 81st Combat Support Group. It was just 81st Support Group. The word 'Combat' was added later in life to a number of units throughout the Air Force.
